Built Green™ is an industry driven, voluntary program that promotes sustainable building practices to reduce the impact that building has on the environment. It benefits the home buyer, the community, and the environment and is an opportunity for everyone to choose a “green” future. This program has been developed to give the new home owner more choice regarding the energy efficiency and level of comfort of their new home.

What is a BuiltGreen™ Home?

BuiltGreen™  homes are 3rd party certified, energy efficient, and environmentally responsible homes. This label adds value your home by promoting the use of resource-efficient, environmentally friendly, construction practices and products.

Owning a green home doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice any luxury just to be environmentally conscious. BuiltGreen ensures that any home with a BuiltGreen™  Certification comes equipped with advanced technologies that create optimal living environments without the footprint of a regular home. BuiltGreen™ homes are affordable AND beautiful, making them a perfect choice for everyone in the market for a new home. First time buyers, new families, and long term investments!

Gold Seal was the first rural builder in Alberta to produce a Built Green™ home. We can offer you any level from the Built Green™  Checklist: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

*Energuide ratings may vary based on individual home designs and specifications. An Energuide rating is provided after blower door testing.

Operational Systems

  • Windows are Energy Star rated
  • 25% of lights supplied with compact fluorescent bulbs
  • 100% of power used for construction generated by wind
  • High efficiency hot water tanks and furnace
  • Sealed combustion Fireplaces with variable speed fans


    • Building Materials

  • Insulated rim bands on floor system (Emercor)
  • All floor systems use manufactured wood products
  • All load bearing beams are engineered
  • Advanced sealing package around doors and windows
  • Garage doors insulated to R14
  • 50 year shingles


    • Exterior and Interior Finishes

  • All exterior doors are fibreglass construction
  • All exterior trim is clad with pre-finished metal
  • MDF or finger joint mouldings used throughout home

  • Install pleated media filter on HVAC system
