100% of Gold Seal Homes are registered as Built Green!

Built Green is an industry driven voluntary program that promotes "green" building practices to reduce the impact that building has on the environment. It benefits the home buyer, the community and the environment and is an opportunity for everyone to choose a "green" future. This program has been developed to give the new home owner more choice regarding the energy efficiency and level of comfort of their new home.

Gold Seal was the first rural builder in Alberta to produce a Built Green home. We can offer you any level from the Built Green program Checklist: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum. *Energuide ratings may vary based on individual home designs and specifications. An Energuide rating is provided after blower door testing.

Operational Systems



Building Materials

   Windows are Energy Star rated

   25% of lights supplied with compact fluorescent bulbs

   100% of power used during construction generated by wind power

   High efficiency hot water tanks and furnace

   Sealed combustion Fireplaces with variable speed fans

   Insulated rim bands on floor system (Emercor)

   All floor systems use manufactured wood products

   All load bearing beams are engineered

   Advanced sealing package around doors and windows

   Garage doors insulated to R14

Exterior and Interior Finishes

Indoor air quality

   All exterior doors are fibreglass construction

   All exterior trim is clad with pre-finished metal

   MDF or finger joint mouldings used throughout home

   Install pleated media filter on HVAC system

   Install carbon monoxide detectors

   Power vacuum all HVAC

   All insulation used in home is formaldehyde free

   All paints used have low VOC contents

Ventilation

Waste Management

   All ductwork joints sealed to minimize energy loss

   Install programmable Thermostat w/ Furnace filter replacement reminder

   Ventilation system installed to CSA standards

   Selected suppliers and trades recycle their own waste

   Install built in recycling centre

Water conservation

Business Practice

   Install at least two dual flush toilets

   Provide list of drought tolerant plants to home buyer

   Hot water recirculation line

   Locally manufactured products used to reduce transportation fuel consumption
